  • With Speidi, James Jordan and Nicola McLean this is likely to be a good one.

  • stoney

Haven’t seen any of this year’s series so far but back Speidi as soon as i found out they were going in. Although i was on Rylan the year they were in the pattern of winners since has tenses to favour the more controversial contestants.

  • Speidi for me too. Great TV and intelligent players. I laugh when I think of Spencer’s tearful speech at the end of their last one when he said that he loves everybody and is fed up of having to play the villain. No doubt he’s got something similar planned for this time.

  • fused

I might be the only one on here, but I don’t like Speidi at all and I don’t think they’re good TV. They’re tediously predictable and obvious. I don’t think “they’re playing a game” is a good enough excuse for the way they act either. I’m not defending Austin, but after he’d already lost his temper goading him the way Spencer did was asking for trouble. I hate the way Heidi keeps going on about how it’s all so unfair people turn against them too. They’ll probably last a while with it being vote to save, but I’m not sure they’re as liked as they are sometimes made out to be. Screentime is a big factor in getting votes, and in the series they were in the whole cast was more or less edited out completely apart from them and Rylan, and I don’t think they’ll have quite as much screentime this series.

A lot of viewers have commented that the “All Stars” are at a distinctly unfair advantage. They have more people, they were given more power from the start and now most of the “New Stars” can’t nominate but can be nominated. That said, I don’t think nominations are going to be on “All Star” vs. “New Star” lines.

As for how nominations will go, Speidi will get a lot, and I would be surprised if Angie and Coleen don’t nominate each other.

A lot of money coming for jedward today. Have they suddenly become less annoying?

    Tennis fans:

Apols for off topic but there’s nowhere else to put this.

Keep an eye out for Katerina Siniakova in the Aussie Open. She’s just beaten Halep and Konta on her way to winning in Shenzhen and was runner up in Bastad and Tokyo at the end of last season. Just reached a career high of 37. She won’t win it but she could provide some nice odds for wins against more experienced (she’s only 20) and higher seeded players so might be worth a little dabble.

    • Jessica Hamby

She’s 200/1 for the win at Paddy Power so I think I’ll go and pop a quid on each way later. It’ll give me someone to cheer, and you lot someone to laugh at when she goes out in the first round!

If we’re using this for general discussion the Golden Globes are tonight, it’s the part of the film awards race where we move from the Critics awards to the mainstream, so upsets are plentiful.

I’d say Mel Gibson for Best Director should be much shorter than 16/1 (I took some at 50/1 & 33/1 yesterday). Hugh Grant is value at 18/1 for Comedy Actor.

(La La Land is the favourite in both of these categories, it’ll be the big winner of the night but it isn’t going to sweep all it’s nominations, I think it’ll lose screenplay, song and either Director or Actor.)

Mahershala Ali is the favourite for Supporting Actor but he’s a weak frontrunner (hardly in the film, not a showy performance, basically unknown actor) I’m taking a punt on Dev Patel at 9/1.

I can’t believe Emma Stone is only 1/4 for Best Comedy Actress, there is zero chance she loses.

  • stoney

A bad night for Calum tonight who is quite frankly talking out of his rear end.
Spencer is playing a superb game, I loved how James Jordan thought he was mugging spencer off into winding Austin up but Spencer completely reversed it by grassing him up. Spencer is the type of guy I imagine watching every minute of bb action his opponents have been in, I think he mentioned tonight that he watched the Jedward series before he came in.

  • Andy

Ray j looking in trouble of eviction if the polls are anything to go by, he was the highest paid housemate with a 800k fee plus expenses, would the show want to let him go this early ? Favourable edit for the next few days maybe ?

  • stoney

Speidi have not had the same impact as they had last time. They have been a lot less troublesome and mischievous. Surely spencer has got something up his sleeve. There is no standout winner at the moment and its all to play for but Spencer is getting outplayed in his specialist area by james jordan at the moment

  • That backfire was bigger than when the X factor tried to eliminate that woman on week 8. She topped the vote then. They are desperate to get James C out, They will try anything at this point.

  • stoney

Some serious tactical voting going down last night. Would have been hilarious if Calum went.
Cant belive they put a geordie in there last night. Thats the winner sorted then

  • stoney

Luckily i got in yesterday. She’s favourite on betfair now

  • Tim B

Is there any stopping James Cosmo now? To me, it seems like he’s going to win in a Gary Busey/Jim Davidson sort of way i.e. very convincingly.

  • stoney

With the low voting figures I would still not be ruling Chloe out. Cosmo hasn’t got any real strong vote motivators going in his favour besides the facts hes a nice guy. Also the producers seem hell bent on stopping him from winning.
I wouldn’t touch the current prices

  • stoney

If they keep ganging up on kim she could end up winning

  • stoney

On that basis coleen and James c current final 2

    • Tim B

I’m not sure it will end up like that. Coleen and James C must share a similar sort of vote. If/when she goes up against him in the final, I think she would lose to him quite considerably. Right now I’m thinking she might finish 4th – 6th in the final.

      • stoney

With the eternal nomination going to Speidi, will this rally their support and a lot of floating support who will back them to the win? Quite possibly

  • stoney

I’m now backing kim for the win!

    • Woohoo! IF she’s top of the next Telly Mix poll then she could go favourite. She certainly would be deserving winner and we probably have plenty more to come from her.

      • Stoney

The momentum certainly appears to be with her. I’m a little sceptical to the fact she came behind coleen the other night. But coleen and james c must split votes

  • Stoney

I’ve switched horses for the 3rd time. All in on jedward. I’d be amazed if they didn’t win this now

  • Andy

Yet another great call over on oddschecker Tim, flawless. Well done.

  • I have not watched the entire series, (Two Thirds perhaps) but here is my prediction.

The only person going to 100% be in the last 3 is jedward imo, keep that in mind.

6th: Nicola. Nicola has had a good week but she could flop at the final. My gut tells me Coleen comes 7th.

5th: Coleen. It was between James C, Coleen and Bianca for this spot. Coleen and James will split votes, with James being more popular. My gut tells me James C is in for a final flop.

4th: Bianca. She probably came 2nd to John and Edward last time and in my list she has nowhere else to go really.

3rd: Kim. She calmed down a bit and tumbled after that bizzare Bottom 2 with Spencer and Heidi.

2nd: James. I just said that my gut told me James was in for a final flop. I never go with my gut.

1st: John and Edward, and hopefully they get older.

    Anything could happen.

  • Stoney

    6th Nicola
    5th Kim
    4th Bianca
    3rd James
    2nd Coleen
    1st Jedward

Although 1 and 2 will be a lot closer than the bookies make it.

Surely not even the scots can be bothered to power vote for james c who has done absolutely nothing to deserve coming anywhere near top spot.

    • Andy

I’m thinking of punting on Bianca for next eviction, Nicola taking on Kim the last 2 days could win her quite a few votes, Bianca not receiving much airtime since Jamie’s gone. Or laying Nicola would be probably safer.

  • Tim B

    1. Jedward
    2. James Cosmo
    3. Kim Woodburn
    4. Coleen Nolan
    5. Nicola McLean
    6. Bianca Gascoigne

  • 1. Jedward
    2. James Cosmo
    3. Kim Woodburn
    4. Coleen Nolan
    5. Nicola McLean
    6. Bianca Gascoigne

    (I’m a follower).

  • Stoney

    Just 1% between bottom 2

Jedward running away with it at the top then?

  • James C Final Flop correctly predicted by my gut. About the 6th time my gut told me the answer but I ignored it.

  • Dare I say it, could Coleen win?
    I think she can.

  • Stoney

Wow i was the only one to call this top 2. Jedward to win it. Kims vote transfer should see them past the post

Plus on the money with the vote being close according to what Emma just said

  • Stoney

I’m bloody glad i got on coleen at 9/1 yesterday!

  • Stoney

Poor Jedward deserved winners by a mile. I was chasing my tail all series and ended up with a small profit. Couldn’t get excited by Coleen winning at all. Totally undeserved

  • Andy

John Mcririck takes a bow, You don’t get that personal with a loose woman and get away with it. what he said was seriously sinister. good night for me thanks to Bianca next eviction, Coleen top female and a small profit on the outright. Over to The Voice.

  • Tim B

Hey Boki, I did tell you that Coleen would win. Only five years too early, mind!!!

  • fused

I think Coleen’s probably relatable to a lot of the audience (like The X Factor, most of the voters are probably middle aged and older women). I don’t John McCririk’s comments made that significant a difference though. Coleen topped a save vote before that happened. I don’t think her winning was anything to do with what happened in the series to be honest. She’s been on Loose Women for most of the 21st century. There’s also her well publicised recent marital struggles, a lot of the voters might have empathised or felt sorry for her, and thought she needed something positive to happen.

I find the contrast in CBB fortunes with Coleen and Linda Nolan quite interesting. Linda was very unlucky to be in the same series as Jim Davidson I suppose (Frank Carson’s dressing room etc), but I still don’t think she’d have done much better in a different series.

I think Coleen and Linda share some flaws (both quite dull and miserable), but Coleen has more of a sense of humour about herself, and she’s not as abrasive. Coleen has also been a regular on the telly for nearly two decades, I think Linda’s career after The Nolans was mostly theatre wasn’t it, so perhaps less investment from the general public?

    • Stoney

The only thing that got Coleen over the line was James C going out in 4th. That gave him the Chance to Give a call out for everyone to vote for her half hour before the vote finished. I wouldn’t mind betting Jedward were infront at that point.
She was always going to go close. The 3% difference could only be what a few thousand votes?

      • fused

Yes, that’s a good point, I think vote transfer is a thing. A lot of voters that were going with James Cosmo would likely have transferred to Coleen after he was out in 4th place. There was probably something similar in the last civilian series, Andy going out in 4th, his fans would most likely transfer to Jason.

        • Stoney

He literally urged his fans to do so. It’s not as significant as x factor with its free votes. But i would guess that people who were likely to pay for a 50p James C vote (mature viewers) would be very likely to chuck a 50p vote Colleens way once he went out and urged people to support her.

  • Stoney

    anyone getting imvolved in cbb?
One of my worst in recent times. But this year has been a perfect year so far so fingers crossed.
Shaun is the winner for me.

  • Stoney

No one getting involved this year?
At the moment Sandi is my jackpot, Sarah is my safety net. Although Sandi is shortening at the moment we need to see something from her of note cos just being a nice inoffensive person does not win you Cbb

  • Stoney

Having snapped up good odds on Sarah last week I have now pulled moved all my eggs into the same basket. Sandi is not getting anywhere near enough screen time to win this. She wont have the fan base of Coleen to pull off the win without the producer favour.

  • Sarah is going to absolutely walk this series, with both the producer favour and huge fanbase on her side. The whole series is becoming about her, and we now know that there are less than 16 days to go. It’s very difficult to envisage where any sort of challenge will come from, at least at this stage.

  • Stoney

As long as she doesn’t walk I think it looks an absolute shoe in. If it was the final week she would be odds on. Id be surprised if she isnt odds on by this time next week, possibly even by the weekend. The short series definately works in her favour.
Tonight should see her shorten even more as nearly everyone nominates her and more house mates queue up to take a pop. Dangerous Danan is playing a blinder for her chances 🙂

  • Stoney

Sarah getting the Gary Busey treatment. Can only work in her favour.

  • Stoney

Sarah absolutely had this sewn up. She is leading every poll and won the chearleading vote.
Then she goes and cheats on her boyfriend 🙁

  • Stoney

If Sarah doesn’t walk she wins. Jemma staying in gives her the platform to have a head to head similar to when Katie Price beat Hopkins a few years ago. I was interested to see how the telemix poll would look after tonight’s eviction as it looked like Sarah was losing support. So far so good polling at over 40% which was higher than before tonight’s eviction. I actually think tonight was a very good show for Sarah with the bully mob goating/attacking her.

    • Sarah won’t walk when she has Chad in there with her. Who would?! The challenge for me now is to figure out who will come second. I could see Chad being there with her, but also Jemma, depending on what happens…

  • Stoney

Aaaaand shes back on the slide. Wonder if the prods will let sarah fly to victory in the last week. They seem to be queuing up to take her on, with no one actually making a solid claim for victory.

  • Stoney

Sam is the latest in the crazy gamble. Couldn’t even beat Helen and Jemma in a vote a few days ago. A fool and his money.

  • Stoney

Looking good now. Sarah should win this with ease. My only runner and im confident in a nice win coming my way Friday.

  • Stoney

Much closer than I thought it was going to be, kudos to the producers for thinning out the competition so that the anti vote was thwarted. Happy days 🙂
